Mole Mapping

Some of the highest risks for developing melanoma are having had a melanoma skin cancer previously or having a high mole count (especially >100).

Early detection of melanoma skin cancer is the key to managing higher risk individuals, as early melanoma is easier to treat, and has a much better outlook.

Our clinic employs a high definition camera with anti-reflection technology to provide detailed images of the moles on your skin. These detailed images (mapping) improve our ability to notice a “changed” or “new” mole that may be a clue to melanoma skin cancer developing.

EARLY DETECTION WITH AI

Our clinic at Skin Cancer Ballarat uses Dermengine software to take a series of studio quality images, mapping your skin’s surface, and is able to use the Artificial Intelligence of Dermengine to check for the development of a new or changed mole or skin cancer.

Most melanoma skin cancers present as a new or changed “mole” or pigmented spot. Having high quality mapping of your skin aids in detection of new melanomas and skin cancers.

MORE INFORMATION

The Australian Melanoma Guidelines state that: TBP (total body photography or mole mapping) allows monitoring of most of the skin surface, including most existing skin lesions. TBP or mole mapping should be the primary imaging intervention for early melanoma detection in patients at elevated risk who have high naevus “mole” counts or multiple dysplastic naevi. Our clinic is happy to offer this service to help check your skin and moles for melanoma and other skin cancers.
